In an interview published today, Bethesda creative director Todd Howard spoke about the studio’s plans for the future, explaining that after Elder Scrolls 6 will be released, the studio’s next game will be Fallout 5, the company’s next major post-apocalyptic open-world role-playing game. However, given how long it takes Bethesda to make these big games, don’t expect any RPG to launch in the near future.
During an interview with IGN, Howard was very clear and open about what Bethesda Game Studios was going to be working on for the next few years. In particular, it is currently planned to complete 2023 Starfield and start working harder on the next post in your ancient scrolls series, Elder Scrolls 6, which Howard explained is currently in pre-production. Then, after that, the studio will focus on Fallout 5.
“Yes, Elder Scrolls 6 is under preparation,” Howard explained. “And, you know, we’re going to do Fallout 5 after that, so our list is pretty full for a while.”

Interestingly, Howard also said that Bethesda Game Studios has a few “other projects” that the team looks at “from time to time,” but didn’t elaborate on what those games are, how far they might go, or where they might be released. falling production time.
To be clear, this is not the first time Howard has spoken about Fallout 5. In fact, this isn’t even the first time he’s spoken to IGN about the next game in the popular RPG series. Last year, during another interview with the publicationHoward explained that the studio had a rough idea of what Fallout 5 would have, but didn’t elaborate further or share details about the game.
“fall outit’s really part of our DNA,” Howard said. IGN in 2021. We have worked with others [developers] from time to time – I can not say what will happen. You know, we have a Fallout 5 one-pager, which is what we want to do.”
However, during that interview, Howard was not so clear about the timing. Now we know that Fallout 5 will indeed be released after Elder Scrolls 6. And that probably means Fallout 5 will be released somewhere, well … let’s say, in 2035. If you’re lucky.
Elder Scrolls 6 was first officially unveiled during E3 2018 with a short teaser, and since then we haven’t heard much about the game. Last highway fall out the game, Fallout 4was released back in 2015.
Howard told IGN today that he wished they would make these games faster and that, like many of the studio’s biggest fans, he was frustrated that he had to wait so many years between each game. But he explained that it was part of the process and necessary.
“They really take time, I wish they came out faster, really,” admitted Howard. “We try our best, but we want them to be the best they can be for everyone.”
Now the real question is whether Elder Scrolls 6 or Fallout 5 Will it be coming to PlayStation consoles in the future or will it only be on Xbox and PC? (I know the answer to this question, and Bethesda fans who only play on PlayStation consoles will probably not like this.…)
